The Institute provides these courses in a classroom setting for one full week of Institute training. Upon completion of the coursework, program participants will receive a "Certificate of Completion".
At the end of the week, we will hold a small honoring ceremony to mark your achievement. We hold these training sessions in weekly spurts so that program participants can attend core leadership classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and attend non-core leadership classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, for example.
Note: The Institute does not provide the course work materials. It is up to the individual instructors to provide their own course material(s).

- Most classes are taught by Native scholars who have in-depth knowledge and experience in the subject matter
- Continuing Education Units (CEUs) can be acquired through the Continuing Education Office at South Dakota State University (SDSU). The Tribal Leadership Institute has presented the course materials to SDSU and they have agreed the courses are worthy of CEUs if a program participant wants to pursue these units
All program participants will stay in the training center and will eat together during the day. The Institute provides a daily lunch meal. the course presenters are generally well known in Indian Country for their contributions to the subject matter they teach.
